Announcements:

Harold announced that we will have a float in the West Des Moines Independence Day Parade on July 4th.  Please call Harold if you can participate.

July 15th is the Annual Bunny Harper Golf Tournament to be held at Legacy Gold Course. 

Enjoy the big band music of Bob Start and the CJC Band at the Urbandale Lions Park on July 4th - 6:30pm.

Sergeant at Arms:

Bob Start (snow skier, sailor, tennis player, and musician) has been a member since 1993, provided us with trivia about paper.  The "cloud" hasn't yet taken over completely!

Program:

We welcomed CJ Kienert, cheese monger and owner of The Cheese Shop, located at the Shops of Roosevelt.  CJ found his interest in all things cheese after working at the Wine Experience.  He went on to work at various markets, working in the specialty food area.  After ventures in cheese making and traveling in the United States and Europe, he decided to open a cheese shop here in the metro. The Cheese Shop carries 100 types of Artisan and Farmhouse cheeses, including three from Iowa.  Some facts about cheese - all cheese is made 4 ingredients, aging can take as little as 24 hours or as long as 10-25 years, and soft cheeses are lower in fat than hard cheeses.  Stop by and enjoy lunch or a tasting.
