Three-minute speaker:  Galen Howsare provided us with some interesting department of education trivia.

Announcements:

Polio Plus:  Tickets for the Iowa Energy are available for $16 each, with the Energy donating $8 to Polio Plus.  Tickets can also be purchased and donated to a youth group.  The game is Saturday, February 7, 2015.

Bell ringing for the Salvation Army netted about $1,800.  Way to go!  We even had a Waukee Rotarian help, but I think the Waukee store may have been short one ringer.

Dictionaries for third graders:   Most of the third graders have received their very own dictionaries.  It's great to see how excited the students are to receive one, and watch them try to pronounce the longest word in the English language at 1,909 letters (hint: it's on page 373) .

Last week's program:  Lori Chesser, an attorney with Davis Brown law firm, specializes as an immigration lawyer, representing individuals in employment-based immigration applications for temporary and permanent positions.  She shared information why immigration is good for the United States.   Lori co-founded the Iowa/Nebraska chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Upcoming programs:

December 23:  Lt Col Anita Elliott, Vice Commander Iowa Wing, Civic Air Patrol

December 30:  Joe Brennan, Head Coach of the Iowa Barnstormers
