3 Minute speaker/Sergeant-at-arms

Janet Nelson gave us the run down today. She is a Realtor at Iowa Realty and has two grandchildren as well as two granddogs. Janet also mentioned that the grandkids are getting into repeat mode, which can occasionally get mom and dad into trouble with the in-laws. Yikes!

As a realtor, Janet covered some interesting trivia regarding real estate in the US. Did you know Omaha was ranked as the most affordable per cap city to live in the US? Also did you know that Des Moines was ranked as the #1 city for young professionals in the US by Forbes?

Today’s Guest Speaker

Darren Fife was in to speak to the group regarding his Rotary GSE team trip to New Zealand. He provided a great deal of information about his thirty days abroad. During his trip, which was supported by New Zealand Rotary District 9910, Darren stayed with Rotary members and learned a great deal. There were three major areas of focus while the team was down south. Vocational: each member of the group was paired with a New Zealander and was able to learn about how they do their similar jobs in a different country. Educational: the group was introduced to the culture and learned about the country, arts, fair, and landscape of the country. Recreation: It sounds like he mostly hung out, ate, and drank during that portion of the trip. This is a great program and helps people like Darren gain exceptional insight into the world.
